As he announced Monday that head coach Mike Anderson had taken Nebraska baseball "to another level," athletic director Steve Pederson did the same thing with Anderson's contract.
Anderson, who was under a four-year deal signed in 2004, will receive a base salary of $200,000 plus incentives over the next five seasons, carrying the deal through the 2010 season.
The package includes income from radio and television packages, plus compensation from adidas.
Anderson's 2004-05 base salary was $113,531.
"This contract is a clear message to his players and future recruits that Coach Anderson will be leading this program for a long time," Pederson said in a statement released Monday. "We are excited to reward his hard work with a strong commitment from the university."
In his third year as head coach, Anderson led the Huskers to the 2005 College World Series, where NU won a CWS game for the first time in school history. The Huskers (57-15) won the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles, and Anderson was honored as the league's coach of the year.
Anderson, 40, is 140-56 in three years at Nebraska. He also led the Huskers to a league title in 2003. He joined the NU staff as an assistant in 1994.
