WHAT WENT RIGHT: Brandon Jones went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBIs as the Saltdogs won a slugfest at Lewis & Clark Park in Sioux City. Every Lincoln batter had at least one hit, as the Saltdogs finished with 18.
After scoring six times in the top of the first, Lincoln took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning keyed by Shea McFeely's two-run double. McFeely went 4 for 5 with four RBIs.
Lincoln relievers Tim Brown and Adam Daniels combined to throw six innings of scoreless relief. Brown, who went 31/3, earned his first win as a pro.
WHAT WENT WRONG: Lincoln gave up all of its six-run first-inning lead as the teams were tied 6-6 after two and 8-8 after three.
DOG BYTES: Outfielder Josh Burrus and first baseman Phil Hawke were named as starters for the North Division all-stars. The game is July 21 in Grand Prairie, Texas.
SERIES BREAKDOWN: After dropping two of three in Sioux City to open the second half, Lincoln returns home with Jarrett Gardner set to start Friday's game with Sioux Falls.
