SUNDAY: Lincoln 11, Sioux City 3

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Lincoln starter Jonathan Figueroa had another strong performance. Just days after Jarrett Gardner no-hit El Paso, Figueroa held Sioux City hitless for 6 1/3 innings. The Explorers' Walter Young spoiled the no-hitter with a solo home run in the seventh.

Figueroa allowed three runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 3-4.

Rookie reliever Tim Brown retired all seven batters he faced.

The Saltdogs got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the first inning. After Pichi Balet drove in the first run, catcher Shawn McGill followed with an RBI double. Shea McFeely then added a two-run double.

McGill had an RBI single in the fifth. The Saltdogs then added three more runs in the sixth. They loaded the bases on Brandon Jones' lead-off single and two walks. Albenis Machado then hit an RBI single. Phil Hawke added an RBI on a fielder's choice and Balet drove in his second run of the game to give Lincoln an 8-1 lead.

Steve Alexander belted a two-run homer in the eighth. It was his eighth homer of the season.

Lincoln finished with 10 hits, and the Sioux City pitching staff contributed 10 walks.

DOG BYTES: Lincoln finished the homestand a perfect 6-0. … Saltdog rookie infielder Jake Jadlowski had an RBI in his first professional at-bat. He replaced Machado at shortstop in the seventh inning. … Righty Jim Paduch will make the start for Lincoln tonight in St. Paul.
