How do I apply for open positions? Applications for posted positions are accepted. It is preferable that all credentials include a completed Journal Star employment application unless job postings indicate differently. Position opportunities vary depending on the department or work group. Opportunities may include customer service representatives, administrative and clerical support, reporters, editors, photographers, press operators, packaging and distribution technicians, electronic technicians, cashier, receptionist, advertising sales executives, graphic artists, building maintenance, library and cataloging staff, or a myriad of other support positions relative to the diverse operations of the company. In most cases, the department manager or supervisor for the respective work area makes the final decision on which applicants will be hired. However, it is also common for team interviews or multiple department interviews to take place for positions that work with multiple departments or work groups in the company. All hiring is done in concert with the human resources department, which will assist with testing and assessments as needed for respective positions.
