It’s clear Mike Riley is not the coach to return Nebraska’s football team to a competitive level, and he should be asked to leave.
We pay these coaches millions of dollars in salary and bonuses and give them whatever they need in terms of recruiting and facilities. In return, they gave us the Oregon game, which showed that they are not capable of inspiring a talented group of young men to play as an effective unit.
The Oregon game showed a lack of sustained offense, unimaginative play calling, a lack of urgency and a passing defense that was nonexistent. It was as if the team was put out there for the first time with no training at all.
Mike Riley is a nice guy but clearly can’t do the job. He should go.
