TED KIRK, Journal Star

Well, Nebraska football players, we are a proud state. We put you young men up on a pedestal, and I must say you have once again disappointed and embarrassed us with the loss over Iowa.

I don’t know why all season you have not wanted to play for our coaches or our quarterback. You are given a free education as well as a celebrity status. I wish I could walk in your shoes.

We as Nebraskans look up to you, and you have let us down. I hope you are proud of yourselves. Not only have you let us fans down, but you have cost the entire coaching staff their jobs. Mike Riley is an honorable man who left his family and friends and home, and you repaid him by lack of commitment.

Hope you are proud of yourselves and can sleep at night. At the end of the day, I hope you are proud of what you have tried to accomplish at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Jim Hastings, Carter Lake, Iowa
