The Lincoln City Council is absolutely on the right track as it approved a resolution to support tolerance and condemn bigotry in our community.
Thanks to the council for passing it unanimously, as expected. The Lincoln Journal Star’s support (“Lincoln must pass anti-hate resolution, Sept. 10) of this resolution is important and much appreciated.
Now, it’s the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners' turn.
Lancaster County has important responsibilities to our community, ranging from serving the public through health and aging services to ensuring that we protect equality and justice in law enforcement and in county jails.
The county should also reiterate respect for diversity, rejection of bigotry and protecting the rights of all people. I call on the Lancaster County Board to pass a resolution modeled after the efforts of the Lincoln City Council as soon as possible.
Sean Flowerday, Lincoln
