The American Volkssport Association (AVA) National Executive Council XVIII has welcomed Stephanie Sánchez Sinclair to the position of national executive director.
Valuing her experience in community relations, communications and fund development for major nonprofits and corporations, AVA spokesmen announced they view Sinclair’s new role as an opportunity to promote their mission of fun, fitness and friendship across the country.
The state of Nebraska is served by the following AVA Clubs: Heartland Walkers (Hastings), Lincoln Volkssport Club, Nebraska Wanderfreunde Trailblazers (Omaha), Walk Seward Club and the Panhandle Walkers (Sidney).
As the official representative of volkssporting in the United States, AVA administers one of the largest healthy living sports programs from its headquarters in Universal City, Texas. AVA has a nationwide grassroots network of more than 250 clubs and is a member of the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) founded in Germany. Now in 28 countries worldwide, volkssporting is a noncompetitive, self-paced activity consisting of walks and hikes, bike rides, swims, skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. While fitness is a major component, equal emphasis is also placed on providing a safe, stress-free environment where everyone can have fun among a network of likeminded individuals.
With more than a decade of skill in managing complex community relations and fund development, Sinclair holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Our Lady of the Lake University, along with a Master of Arts in Communication Studies and a bachelor’s degree in English-Communication Arts from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
