Tuesday – Women’s Welcome Club of Lincoln monthly luncheon 11:30 a.m. at the Country Club of Lincoln, 3200 S. 24th St. Reservations ($13) were due Dec. 7. Program: a Christmas sing-along led by The Kramer Sisters from Crete. Women’s Welcome Club of Lincoln members can join the club’s many groups such as: Dining Out, Book Club, and card groups. Wednesday – Women In Sales & Business holiday luncheon meeting 11:30 a.m. in the NE/Lancaster Room at The Venue, 4111 Pioneer Woods Drive. Meeting focused on supporting the Heartland Cancer Foundation, a local nonprofit that connects local cancer patients to care and reduces the financial stress that often accompanies cancer treatment. WISB members will: network; bring donations to support the Heartland Cancer Foundation; make cards of encouragement for current cancer patients, and create a holiday card to take home. Thursday - Lincoln Home Economists in Home and Community meeting, 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4530 A St. Guest speaker: Dr. Robert Hillestad, internationally renowned Fiber Artist and Professor Emeritus of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design at UNL. Program: "Fiber Art: Inspiration Techniques and Form.” Members reminded to bring donations (fleece blankets, books, puzzles, clothing and/or monetary) as the Christmas Charity project to benefit the Cedars Home for Children. Home economists in the area welcome to attend.
Coming soon – United Way’s Women in Philanthropy to host 11th annual Helping Hands Auction 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, 333 S. 13th St. Live-auction items include tickets to see P!NK, a taste of Broadway, and a backyard barbecue celebration. Silent auction includes unique necklaces, scarves and purses. Wine pull and desserts follow dinner. More details to come.
