Universal Dance Academy is a training center for the social dancer and the serious dancer, from casual to competitive. Each class combines top-quality instruction and a focus that helps students hone their skills.
With 24 levels of instruction and 60-plus classes per week, you’ll find just the right fit at UDA, and a time slot that fits your busy schedule. And you’ll be delighted that one of Lincoln’s most convenient dance class schedules is offered at a studio in the heart of Lincoln.
The studio’s popularity has been rising ever since co-owners Vivian Ball and Angela Beery first opened their doors 22 years ago. For the past half-dozen years they’ve called Centro Plaza home, anchoring the north end of the shopping center at 48th and R streets.
Looking for a studio that focuses on fun and fundamentals? UDA’s wide variety is the answer to your search. Prefer a more structured approach with ambitious goals and a desire to reach them? UDA caters to the serious dancer, too, with classes that help goal-oriented students with pursuits such as succeeding at high school dance and collegiate dance team tryouts, or furthering their dance career.
UDA’s instructional expertise not only gives high school students the skills they need to succeed, it has also groomed many of the area’s high school dance team coaches.
“We’re proud to say that all but two of Lincoln’s six public high schools have dance teams currently coached by our alumnae, and the same can be said for Pius X and Norris,” said Vivian. UDA has even helped its students earn college dance scholarships and aided in their dreams of becoming professional dancers.
UDA helps each student become a well-rounded dancer. Offering a wide range of opportunities for ages 2 through adult in a family-friendly environment, UDA’s options include Wee Go Together, Creative Movement, ballet, pointe, tap, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and tumbling for dancers and a national award-winning competitive company, all for ages 5-18. UDA's enrollment includes a large number of boys.
“We have amazing, professional staff members who inspire children of all ages to learn and grow in a loving, family atmosphere,” added Angela. “Each teacher has specialized dance training in each style they teach and several years’ experience with children.”
Sound good, but not sure? UDA helps you with your selection process. Vivian and Angela encourage you to check out their studio, either as a participant, or as a spectator in one of their spacious viewing rooms as you watch your child take a trial class. There’s also free, spacious parking at Centro Plaza.
