The June 5 Mixer event provided a great test for the Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League field in the Shamble format as players were required to play their own ball after choosing the best drive from the four-man groups.

The field of 118 golfers was divided into three flights – 10 teams in A, B, and C. The gold tees were used, which made all the holes accessible to each group. The pin placements were mainly in front, so golfers had to negotiate how much to run them out or stop short without leaving too long of a putt.

The computer program groups players with various handicaps, so there is very little difference between all the groups regardless of flight. Players were allowed 60 percent of their league handicap, and strokes (pops) given on the corresponding holes. It really boils down to who can hit consistent drives and which higher handicap players can utilize their pops and make putts and chips.

The next Fun Day was at Table Creek in Nebraska City, Monday, June 12.
