YORK - The Lincoln Senior Men's League Fun Day Scramble on Sept. 11 used the gold tee boxes rather than white as had been done last year; however, the scores remained almost identical.

The York Country Club course is a challenge for the league as it requires accurate drives and proper navigation of the tight, tree-lined course. Obviously it did not deter Myron Thoreson from using a 9 iron on the 131-yard No. 4 as he aced this difficult downhill par 3.

Pin prizes were awarded on holes 1, 8, 16, and 18. The closest 2nd shot over the water on 1 was won by Larry Morford; the longest putt on 8 was by Larry Younger. Closest to the pin on hole 16 was Lloyd Hinkley, and on 18 the longest putt was Jeff Kuhlmann. Wilderness Ridge hosted the Fun Day scramble Sept. 20. The winners at York:

Flight A: first-57-James Smith, Doug Emery, Craig Tische, and Roger Tenopir; second-58-Don Sackett, Bud Dahlstrom, Ken Hunt, and Paul Liess; third-58- Jerry Petersen, Bob Schroeder, Bud Shipman, and Al Delano.

Flight B: first-62-Ardean Arndt, Mark Oppegard, Larry Rempe, and Herb Rathje; second-62-Mark Pankoke, Detlef Gartzke, Jack Morris, and Craig Hahn; third-64-Darrell Plumb, Marvin Jaques, Gary McCown, and George Hill.

Flight C: first-61-Myron Thoreson, Jim Cunningham, Ken Geisler, and Gary Roller; second-66-Virgil Horne, Robert LaMarre, Larry Rakow, and Gayle Burr; third-66-Jeff Kuhlmann, Allen Gabel, Gary DeBoer, and Mike Toomey.
