A smaller field for the Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League mixer event Oct. 11 meant teams moved along quickly, and the excellent course conditions produced some low scores.

With 86 golfers divided into two flights, chilly temperatures greeted the golfers early, but it warmed up quickly, the sun was shining brightly, and the day turned out perfect with very little wind.

Pin prizes were awarded on Hole 9 for closest to the pin on the second shot and hole 18 for the longest putt. Bob Wesslund and Tom Storz won those prizes, respectively, and Bob’s scintillating winning shot was a foot from the flag on that difficult hole.

The next Fall Fun Day event was held Oct. 18 at Pioneers.

The winners at Highlands:

Flight A: First-Score 64-Dennis Witfoth, Bob Wesslund and Randy Evans; Second-Score 64-James Martin, Mark Jeter, Ron Riley and Myron Thoreson; Third-Score 65- Mike Abbott, Allen Gabel, Doyle Haney and Gary Thompson.

Flight B: First-Score 60-Gary DeBoer, Steve Mayer, Jerry Petersen and Tom Storz; Second-Score 64-Andy Anderson, Ron Christensen, Stan Dinges and Detlef Gartzke; Third-Score 67-Dave Ankenman, Jim Cunningham, Lyle Vannier and Gary Wells.
