The Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League Fun Day held Oct. 18 at Pioneers Golf Course in southwest Lincoln used 100% of each golfer's handicap and the two best net scores on each hole. As would be expected, this format put a premium on higher handicap players using the strokes they received, especially on the more difficult holes.
Since everyone played their own ball all day, there was no advantage to the long hitters who could jump start a group with a great drive in a Scramble or Shamble format.
The 120 golfers were divided into three flights of 10 four-man teams. Pin prizes were awarded on hole 9 and 18 for the longest putt, with George Hill and Rob James winning those, respectively. The league's most recent Fall Fun Day was scheduled Wednesday (Oct. 25) at Holmes. The last Fall Fun Day is Monday (Oct. 30) at The Pines CC in Valley.
