Thanks to abundant rainfall this spring Wachiska Audubon has an excellent crop of gayfeather on Ernie Rousek's prairie near Pleasant Dale -- and it needs volunteers to help harvest the seeds to sell to Stock Seed Farm.

Volunteers have been harvesting the seed each fall for about 13 years. Proceeds go to Wachiska activities.

Volunteers bring gloves, preferably leather. Buckets will be provided, but volunteers are urged to bring their own.

Meet at the prairie at about 1 p.m. Sunday. Picking should take an hour or two.

Go west on O Street to Northwest 168th Street (on the west side of Pleasant Dale Cemetery two miles past the Seward County line). Turn north and go about halfway down the hill, then turn west at the blue address marker.
