OMAHA — Police say a man died after being shot on the south side of Omaha.

Officers sent to investigate the report of a shooting near 48th and Y streets found the wounded man around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Police say he died after being taken to Nebraska Medical Center.

He's been identified as 32-year-old Matthew Johnson.

Police arrested the man they believe is responsible, 31-year-old Matthew Arnold, early Thursday after investigators saw him climb into the passenger seat of a vehicle near the shooting scene.

Arnold was booked into Douglas County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, Omaha police say.
