A judicial nominating commission has forwarded the names of three people for the governor's consideration in filling a spot on the Nebraska Court of Appeals.

A news release from the office of Gov. Dave Heineman said the three are James D. Smith and Francie Riedmann, both of Omaha, and Mark A. Johnson of Norfolk.

The vacancy was created when the governor named Appeals Court Judge William Cassel to the Nebraska Supreme Court.

The governor will be interviewing the three nominees in the coming weeks.
