The body of a man who went missing more than four months ago near his Crofton hometown was recovered Friday.
Nebraska State Patrol Spokeswoman Deb Collins said the body of Donovan Potts, 47, was discovered in a submerged pickup in a pond just southeast of Crofton, on County Road 888, in Knox County.
Investigators believe that he died as a result of a crash, but an investigation into Potts' death continues and an autopsy has been scheduled.
Collins said a resident called NSP's Norfolk office Friday afternoon to report finding pieces of a vehicle and a license plate in a field near the pond where Potts was later found.
Investigators determined that the license plate belonged to a pickup driven by Potts when he was last seen on Nov. 20.
A detailed search of the area led to the discovery of a 1999 Ford pickup partially submerged in a muddy pond about a quarter of a mile off of the roadway. The body of Potts and his dog also were discovered in the water.
