OMAHA — Harvard economist Roland Fryer will speak at a gala celebrating the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s 100th anniversary.
The centennial celebration, sponsored by the campus’ alumni association, will be held Feb. 21 at Qwest Center Omaha.
Tickets for the event cost $300 per person or $3,000 for a table of 10, and proceeds will be used to establish two community fellowships at UNO. For more information, go to www.unomaha.edu/100/.
Fryer’s address will touch on the importance of urban institutions to their communities.
The university gained new life in the University of Nebraska system in 1968. It had been known as the Municipal University of Omaha since 1931. And that institution grew out of the University of Omaha, which was founded in 1908.
