OMAHA — Staff at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Nebraska Medical Center are marketing a weight-loss plan that uses color-coded bracelets to monitor food intake.
The A-Wrist-A-Trac program is based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food pyramid. It’s designed to help adults monitor their diet and establish better eating habits.
The program includes a user guide and set of bracelets in either rustic fall or pastel spring colors.
Dr. Kathi Healey, one of the inventors, says she lost 8 pounds over two months with the program.
The program is currently available at the Clarkson gift shop in the joint facilities’ Omaha site or by e-mailing unemed@unmc.edu.
Additional versions are being developed for children and people with diabetes.
