Roger Foster has announced he will run for mayor of Crete.
The lifelong resident of Crete has been a member of the Crete City Council for three years.
As a council member, Foster said, he has focused on the needs of youths, supported elder care for seniors, encouraged recycling and mandated background checks for anyone who interacts with children.
If he is elected mayor, Foster said, he will continue his service to the community by improving communication and relations among all city departments, the chamber of commerce and businesses.
He also promised to meet regularly with K-12 school leaders; Doane College students, faculty and administrators; city and county leaders; and the state Department of Economic Development to make sure that Crete's needs are clearly defined and to coordinate planning to improve the efficient use of all city funds.
Foster said he also will work to improve the transparency of city operations and will communicate with the people of Crete.
