An adult over age 65 in Southeast Nebraska is reportedly the first flu-related death in the state this season, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

The death was reported last week.

During last year's flu season, 58 Nebraskans died of flu-related symptoms, including two children, the release said.

DHHS recommends flu vaccines for everyone six months and older. Children, adults over 65, pregnant women and others with long-term health conditions are more likely to contract the flu.
