Overnight thunderstorms caused $5,000 to $10,000 damage to a southeast Lincoln home after lightning struck the roof early Friday morning.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jeanne Pashalek said two people were sleeping in the brown, two-story house at 7450 Upton Grey Lane when lightning hit it just after 5:15 a.m., but were not hurt.

The strike caused damage to electrical wiring, but did not start a fire.
