Nancy Hicks reports on Lincoln city government, but she’s been following the leaders of local and state government for more than 40 years.

“I want to let you know I am pro-growth. I am going to vote to grow Lincoln by 152 acres," said Councilwoman Cyndi Lamm, as she voted for an annexation proposition Monday night.

Lamm called attention to her annexation “yes” votes Monday in response to Mayor Chris Beutler’s attack on Republican council members last week.

Beutler labeled the three Republican council members as anti-growth, based, in part, on their no votes on a controversial annexation proposal that passed on a 4-3 vote.

There were four annexation proposals on Monday’s City Council agenda and three times Lamm pointed out she was voting “yes” on annexation. The other two Republican council members also voted yes on the proposals.

"I am pro-growth, but I am also pro-personal and property rights,” Lamm said.
