Gourley gets salary increase

The Lincoln Board of Education on Tuesday approved a 4.5 percent salary increase for Superintendent Susan Gourley and extended her contract for one year.

The Lincoln Board of Education on Tuesday approved a 4.5 percent salary increase for Superintendent Susan Gourley and extended her contract for one year.

The board also unanimously approved salary increases for Gourley’s administrative staff.

Gourley’s salary increase raises her base salary to $215,775, plus a  merit allowance of $12,816, based on her performance. That makes her total salary $228,591.

The board has extended her three-year contract by one year each year since she joined the district in 2004.

Gourley succeeded Phil Schoo, who retired as superintendent after 19 years.

The administrative staff also received 4.5 percent increases. Those salaries approved by the board include:  

* Marilyn Moore, associate superintendent for instruction, $161,307.

* Dennis Van Horn, associate superintedent for business affairs, $143,586.

* Nancy Biggs, associate superintendent for human resources, $145,898.

* Dave Myers, assistant to the superintendent, $127,186.

* Virgil Horne, assistant to the superintendent, $147,328.
