Attorney General Jon Bruning has selected Nebraska political consultant Jordan McGrain to serve as his campaign manager if he enters the 2008 Republican Senate race.
Bruning announced Monday that McGrain, 31, once an aide to Rep. Lee Terry, has signed on to his Senate campaign exploratory committee.
McGrain has led successful campaigns for state Sen. Mick Mines of Blair and Omaha City Councilman Jim Vokal.
In addition, he has worked as a campaign consultant to state Sens. John Nelson of Omaha and Tim Gay of Papillion, Public Service Commissioner Tim Schram and Lincoln City Councilman John Spatz.
Bruning said he’ll have more to announce about a possible Senate bid in a matter of weeks.
“The support and encouragement I’ve received has been overwhelming,” he said.
Bruning has said he’s preparing to enter the Senate race whether Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel seeks re-election or not.
Also considering a GOP bid are former Omaha Mayor Hal Daub and Columbus industrialist Tony Raimondo.
Hagel plans to announce his political plans later this year.
