Two Lincoln high school students claimed top honors at the 28th annual UNL Math Day on Thursday on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

For the first time, two first-place scholarship winners received perfect scores on the two exams students take.

Jae Hyun Lim of Lincoln Southwest and Isaac Zhang of Lincoln East are both eligible for scholarships to UNL worth $8,000, part of $34,000 in scholarships awarded to top-10 finishers.

Joshua Lee of Lincoln East, Khoa Nguyen of Millard North and Crystal Xu of Lincoln East each earned $4,000 scholarships for finishing third through fifth, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10 and winning $2,000 scholarships were Kenji Nakagawa of Lincoln Southwest, Zheyu Qiu of Lincoln Christian, Sara Jiang of Omaha Brownell-Talbot, Sunny Liu of Omaha Skutt and Joe McGill of Creighton Prep.

Lincoln East and Lincoln Southwest placed first and second in the Class I team competition. Lincoln Pius X was first in Class II.

The Lincoln East trio of Lee, Xu and Isaac Zhang claimed the large-school Math Bowl team championship.

Other Math Bowl team champions were Elkhorn South, Omaha Skutt, Lincoln Christian, Harvard and Sargent.

Nearly 1,450 students from 99 Nebraska high schools participated.
