High school-level English teachers from Brazil are visiting Nebraska to improve their teaching skills.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha said the 32 teachers recently began a six-week professional development course paid for by the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
The program is designed to immerse the teachers in U.S. language and culture. They'll attend English courses and seminars on teaching methodology and take part in intercultural activities that include visiting the State Capitol and meeting with Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy and Secretary of State John Gale.
The 32 teachers at UNO are among 540 attending similar courses at universities across the United States.
