A 29-year-old was sentenced Friday to more than 21 years in prison for a nearly three-year drug conspiracy in Lincoln.

"Your honor, I'm not a violent man. I just took the easy way … to support my family," Darron Beard told Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf.

U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Gilg said that from late 2008 until the summer of 2011, Beard, in conjunction with others, distributed crack cocaine from apartments and on the streets of Lincoln.

He was responsible for the distribution of about 11 ounces of crack during that period.

Kopf gave him 21 years and 10 months.
