A 37-year-old man who hit three cars has gotten eight months in jail for it.
Police said Christopher Allen Davis ran his Mercury Cougar into three cars parked in the 1700 block of Euclid Avenue early April 14, causing about $6,500 damage.
Police originally alleged he rammed the cars because he was upset with his girlfriend, but a judge dismissed criminal mischief charges that alleged Davis intentionally or maliciously caused the damage because the state had relied on a statement he made when he was arrested.
Yet the arresting officer said Davis was babbling so incoherently, police didn't try to interview him, and further investigation showed he didn't have a girlfriend.
Davis pleaded no contest to second-offense DUI, aggravated, and leaving the scene of an accident.
