It appears to Lincoln police that somebody who had keys to a locked Everett Elementary classroom and the combination to a cabinet stole 21 Apple MacBooks.
Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said the total loss is $21,000.
She said there was no sign of forced entry during the time the theft could have occurred -- between 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Construction employees doing work in the classroom at the school, 1123 C St., have been interviewed and told police they locked the classroom door.
Even if the person who stole the computers gained access to the classroom, he or she also had to know the lock combination to the cabinets that contained the laptops, Flood said. She said police do not have any suspects but continue to investigate who could have gained access to the computers.
