A tip from a pharmacist led to Tuesday's arrests of two people on suspicion of intent to manufacture meth.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said a Hy-Vee pharmacist called Nov. 11 to report suspicious pseudoephedrine purchases after several people got out of a minivan with Iowa plates and entered the store one at a time to make the purchases.
The sheriff's office alerted other pharmacies to be on the lookout for a gold Plymouth Voyager and reviewed recent area pseudoephedrine purchases.
On Tuesday, employees from Shopko and Walgreen's notified the sheriff's office the people associated with the minivan were buying pseudoephedrine.
Deputies stopped the van on Interstate 80 just outside of Lincoln, Wagner said.
They searched the van and found 322 pseudoephedrine tablets in an aspirin bottle, he said.
They arrested Melissa Spear and her husband, Skyler Spear, of Council Bluffs Iowa, and jailed them on suspicion of possession of ephedrine with intent to manufacture meth, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
