One man is in custody after police say he got into a scuffle with two officers who were investigating a report that he was illegally shooting a crossbow in city limits.

Lincoln Police Capt. Jim Davidsaver said one officer was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury following the incident at Center Court Mobile Home Park, 3500 N. 39th St. Circle. The other officer was being treated for a minor injury as well.

Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said the officer who was taken by ambulance to a hospital was released after treatment for a 5-centimeter cut on the back of his hand. The other officers reported minor bumps and bruises.

Davidsaver said police struggled to take 32-year-old Gary S. Grana into custody at 1 p.m. Police were in the process of obtaining a search warrant when officers confronted Grana, who was trying to enter his trailer home.

A tree stump draped in a cloth and what appeared to be a Halloween mask stood in the yard where the altercation took place. The cloth had several holes punctured in it.

Davidsaver said Grana was not holding a weapon at the time of the altercation with officers.

Beggs said Grana was cited and lodged in jail on suspicion of third assault of a police officer. He was also cited for a weapon discharge in the city limits.
