Lincoln man completes 14,000-mile bike ride across Americas

1. Matt Baumeister calls himself a traveler.

2.He was born in Lincoln on March 23, 1978.

3. He graduated from Lincoln East High in 1996.

4. He has a commercial driver's license, a truck-driving degree from Southeast Community College, and a BA in geography from UNL. (He drove a Ready Mix Concrete truck for a year and could man a big rig if he felt like it.)

5. He works at the Bike Rack.

6. His parents are John and Cecelia Baumeister. He has one younger sister, Meghen.

7. He has a golden retriever named General Jack - Jack for short.

8. He just ordered a unicycle.

9. His fiancee's name is Jennifer Kunkle. They met when they both worked at Spaghetti Works. (She doesn't have a bike.)

10. On Feb. 11 he finished a 14,328-mile bike ride that began June 27, 2007, in Alaska and ended 20 months and 50 flat tires later in Argentina.
