Divers searched the overgrown banks of Salt Creek on Monday, looking into the possibility a body or bodies may have floated downstream from a submerged vehicle.
All authorities found was a recently stolen 2006 Toyota Highlander, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff's Office report.
The initial call about the vehicle - in the creek just south of South First Street and Park Boulevard, on the east side of Wilderness Park - came in at about 8:30 a.m.
Rescue crews initially scanned the SUV with binoculars but saw no evidence of a body, said Mike Tupe, a captain with the Southwest Rural Fire District. The top of the vehicle was barely visible above the water.
Southwest firefighters called Lincoln Fire and Rescue and its dive team to examine the vehicle. Deputy Chief Pat Borer said divers found nothing inside and then proceeded downstream to continue their search.
The Toyota was reported stolen from the driveway of a Raymond home sometime between Saturday at 10:15 p.m. and Sunday morning at 7:25, according to the sheriff's office report. It's valued at $25,000 and was considered a total loss.
There are no suspects at this time, according to the report.
