Robbery suspect caught after brief foot chase
Police arrested a 24-year-old robbery suspect minutes after he allegedly grabbed $160 from a McDonald’s Restaurant drive-through late Wednesday.
Cornelies Stevens, 3003 Q St., allegedly approached the drive-through window at the restaurant at 865 N. 27th St. on foot at 11:50 p.m., reached through the open window and grabbed money from the cash register, said Lincoln Police Capt. Jim Davidsaver.
An employee inside the store confronted Stevens and briefly struggled with him before Stevens allegedly grabbed the money and ran, Davidsaver said.
A customer in the drive-through line saw the robbery and called 911. An officer in the area saw Stevens running and ran after him. Police dog Reno also was brought in to help. Stevens was caught after a couple of minutes, Davidsaver said.
He was arrested and lodged in jail on suspicion of robbery. The $160 was recovered, Davidsaver said.
