Guns, bandannas and SUVs were common elements in two crimes in south Lincoln early Sunday that are believed to be unrelated.

A 30-year-old woman reported the first crime to Lincoln police at 2:22 a.m., after a dark SUV passed her car and stopped broadside in front of it near 70th Street and Glynoaks Drive, Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said.

A white man wearing a bandanna over his face got out of the passenger’s seat of the SUV and pointed a gun at her. The woman escaped without incident.

At 4 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was walking from her car near South 44th Street and Neumann Lane when two black men wearing bandannas came up to her, Beggs said. The woman told police the men had been following her in a white SUV.

One of the men held a handgun. They took her cell phone, searched her car trunk and left.

The incidents, though similar,  are not believed to be related, Beggs said.
