Six months after Seward City Council members sought a Nebraska State Patrol investigation of the city administrator's contract, the results have yet to emerge from the office of Attorney General Jon Bruning.
Sid Kamprath, one of those who called for the investigation in May, said Thursday he has no idea why the findings are still in pending status.
Kamprath said he touched base with a staff member in the attorney general's office as recently as Wednesday.
"And she told me she had not received anything from the state patrol yet.
"So, from her standpoint, it's an ongoing investigation."
Council members sought outside help after failing to get what they saw as satisfactory answers to questions about salary adjustments posed to City Administrator Dan Berlowitz and Mayor Roger Glawatz.
That led to the discovery of a version of Berlowitz's contract that Kamprath said appeared to have a different expiration date than the one the council had approved.
"I wanted straight answers to straight questions and I never got them."
On Thursday, Berlowitz directed inquiries to Seward City Attorney Larry Brauer.
Brauer said the delay seems to be with the patrol investigator.
"He's just not had an opportunity to put his findings in writing."
Brauer expects the report to emerge from the attorney general's office eventually and to go to the county attorney's office without recommendation.
"It's taken a little longer than everyone ... including Dan, I think, would like to have it resolved," Brauer said.
