Democratic congressional nominee Max Yashirin of Lincoln declared his opposition Thursday to a “$700 billion bailout of Wall Street.”
“We must now today draw a line in the sand and say that enough is enough,” Yashirin told a State Capitol news conference.
“The taxpayers of our great nation cannot and should not have to shoulder another burden created by Wall Street greed and Washington failures,” the 1st District candidate said.
Yashirin said the proposed federal intervention represents further “nationalization and socialization” of the U.S. financial system.
Congress should reject the $700 billion plan, he said, and allow “a solution (to) be found by the market itself.”
Yashirin is seeking the House seat held by Republican Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.
