About 45 employees at a south Lincoln factory found their work interrupted Tuesday evening because of a fire in an industrial oven.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jeanne Pashalek said the Schneider Electric factory, formerly Square D, already was being evacuated when fire crews arrived at about 8 p.m.

"They actually have a very good response plan," Pashalek said.

A team of five employees met with firefighters when they arrived and already had shut off power to the building at 1717 Center Park Road.

Firefighters contained the fire to the metal oven and had it extinguished within about 20 minutes.

Pashalek said no one reported any serious injuries, and damage appeared to be minimal.
