Not now, Kim Robak says.

But, the former lieutenant governor said, she might consider a bid for elective office sometime in the future.

Robak responded Wednesday to the appearance of a Facebook web site group urging her to enter next year's 1st District House race.

That seat is held by Republican Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.

As of Wednesday morning, nearly 400 supporters and potential campaign volunteers had signed up on the Facebook site urging Robak to become a candidate.

"As much as I love public policy," Robak said, "I do not have any interest in running for Congress."

As for future elective office, Robak said, "I wouldn't rule out something sometime in the future.

"But not right now," she said.

Robak, a partner in Ruth Mueller Robak, a Lincoln government relations law firm with the largest lobbying presence at the Legislature, was lieutenant governor from 1993 to 1999.

Originally appointed to the post by then-Gov. Ben Nelson, she was elected as his teammate in 1994 when the governor won re-election.

Prior to that, Robak had served as Nelson's chief of staff and legal counsel.

Robak was the University of Nebraska's vice president for external affairs from 1999 to 2004.

In 2004, she joined Ruth Mueller Robak.
