Dozens more Lincoln’s vehicles became targets for BB gun shooters over the weekend.

Police recorded 44 incidents between Saturday night and Sunday morning, increasing the total since Friday morning to 77.

The three-day damage estimate totals $19,375.

Jonah Piskorski’s 1999 white Chevrolet Tahoe, parked near Northwest Sixth Street and Oregon Trail, became one of those targets over the weekend, with three broken windows and $700 worth of damage.

“I’m disappointed,” Piskorski said. “I’m not really angry. I can’t really do anything about it.”

BB gun vandals shot out windows in five other vehicles in his neighborhood between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Lincoln last experienced significant BB gun vandalism in early October, when about 25 residents near 84th Street and Old Cheney Road reported damage.

Total damage then was estimated at $2,450.

Orlando Renteria, who lives near Northwest Fourth Street and Laramie Trail, was also a victim of this past weekend’s BB gun spree, as his 1994 green Dodge Caravan was hit.

Like with Piskorski, three windows, including the rear one, were shattered by pellets and Renteria’s van had damage estimated at $700.

Renteria’s car stereo was also taken. It was worth $50.

“I don’t feel bad for the stereo, but more for the windows,” Renteria said. “I put plastic and tape for now in the back.”

Piskorski said nothing was stolen from his vehicle.

“I’m glad they didn’t take anything,” Piskorski said. “I just had to clean out a mess.”

Northern Lincoln has been hit harder than elsewhere, but vandalism has occurred all over the city.

Over the past three days, 43 vehicles have had windows shot out  between 38th and 72nd streets, and Holdrege and Seward streets.

“It is extremely destructive to people’s property,” said Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs. “It’s a significant loss to the citizens.”

Police have no suspects.

“When we have cleared these in the past, it’s been anywhere from teenagers up to (young) adults,” Beggs said.
