A stabbing Saturday afternoon left a Lincoln man with serious injuries and a woman in jail.
No further information on the man's condition was available Saturday night, but authorities earlier described his wounds as life threatening.
Just after 2 p.m., police swarmed a neighborhood southwest of 27th and O streets after a 911 caller reported a woman covered in blood approached him and said she might have killed someone, said Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler.
Officers found the victim, identified in police reports as 31-year-old Christopher Michael Grant, at 240 S. 26th St.
He was taken by ambulance to BryanLGH Medical Center West.
A hospital spokesperson referred questions about the man's condition to police, who said information wasn't available.
Neighbors who saw Grant being taken from the three-story apartment building said he had a wound near his left shoulder.
Officers placed a woman in the back of a police cruiser and took her away from the scene at about 2:45 p.m. The police incident report listed 35-year-old Lisa Ann Ramirez-Rodriguez as a person of interest.
Records show Ramirez-Rodriguez was denied a domestic abuse protection order against Grant in 2007.
Saturday night, she was being held in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
Neighbors who gathered near the apartment building Saturday afternoon said they didn't hear anything until police cars descended on the area.
"Then they brought out a guy - looked like he might have been shot or stabbed," said one woman, who refused to give her name.
Lewis Coplan, 50, who lives nearby, said the victim looked unconscious.
"He was out," Coplan said.
Grant has a lengthy criminal record, with convictions in Lancaster County that include domestic assault, assault, theft and disturbing the peace.
Coplan and other neighbors said their area of midtown Lincoln has lately been peaceful.
"They're trying to really keep it up," Coplan said. "It's a lot better than it was."
