A thief broke into a Nebraska State Patrol SUV early Sunday and stole an assault rifle, radar gun and breathalyzer among other items, according to Lincoln police.

The SUV was parked in the driveway of a home in southwest Lincoln between 3 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., a police report said.

The thief pried open the front passenger door to gain entry and also stole keys to several offices, handcuff keys, handgun magazines and flashlight, the report said.

A handgun was also taken from a car parked in the home's garage, police said.
