Lincoln police have arrested a man they say strangled, raped and threatened to kill a woman at her house early Saturday, according to court documents.

Jeffrey A. Green, 46, 5230 S. 40th St., remained in Lancaster County jail Monday on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and strangulation. Charges had not been filed against him as of Monday, but he remained in jail pending a court hearing.

A 29-year-old woman told police early Saturday that Green, who is an acquaintance of hers, came over shortly after midnight, investigators said in an affidavit for Green's arrest.

During a tour of the home, he tried to fondle her and punched her in the face when she resisted him, she told police.

He bound her hands behind her back with a phone charger and strangled her with another cord, the affidavit said.

She told police she passed out and awoke to him raping her, according to the affidavit.

Green then bound her feet and threatened to kill her again if she left while he was gone, the affidavit said.

Once he left, she escaped and summoned help, police said.

The woman had facial injuries and marks consistent with the assault and strangulation she reported, the affidavit said. Officers found Green at a gas station at 14th Street and Pine Lake Road around 6 p.m. Saturday.

He was then taken to a police station for questioning and then booked in jail.
