A 54-year-old man was taken to a Lincoln hospital with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning after he stumbled into traffic along Capital Parkway just west of the 27th Street intersection.

Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands said the man was struck by a 2011 Honda Civic at 6:25 a.m. The 42-year-old driver saw the pedestrian, but he couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting him.

She said police haven’t issued any citations and that the pedestrian was in stable condition following surgery.
