A former Scooter's Coffee shop manager is accused of embezzling $28,000 from a south Lincoln franchise, police allege in court documents.

Aubrey A. Kinnett, 31 of Lincoln, came under investigation by Lincoln police June 23 after the owner of the Scooter's off 56th Street and Pine Lake Road reported the suspected theft, according to an affidavit for Kinnett's arrest.

Investigators believe she embezzled $27,988.20 in cash deposits between August 2016 and June 2017, the affidavit said.

Kinnett turned herself in at the Lancaster County jail Nov. 8, and prosecutors charged her with theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more.

She has been released from jail on $5,000 bond.

If convicted of the felony, Kinnett faces up to 20 years in prison.

Her attorney, Tim Noerrlinger, declined to comment on the allegations on Monday.

Tony Manzitto, who owns the coffee shop location, said Kinnett no longer works for Scooter's and declined to comment on the case.
