A 33-year-old man told staff at a Lincoln hospital he accidentally stabbed himself in the stomach with a kitchen knife early Monday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The man and his wife arrived at the Bryan West Campus emergency room at 3 a.m., Officer Angela Sands said Tuesday.

The man said his injury occurred while he was cooking.

Doctors believe he will recover from the injury, Sands said. Police are investigating how he sustained the injury, she said.
