A fight last week outside the cafeteria at Lincoln High School resulted in a Lincoln police officer being punched at least three times and kicked in the back of the knee, Officer Angela Sands said.
The officer was attempting to break up a fight on Feb. 23 among students, but they wouldn't stop the altercation. The officer then tried to arrest one of the students, and more students interfered.
Several Lincoln High staff members tried to help, but a crowd of students surrounded them, Sands said. Eight more police officers came and worked with LHS employees to end the fight. There were no injuries to students or staff.
A 15-year-old female was referred to the Lancaster County Attorney's Office for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and failure to comply with a lawful order, police said. A 14-year-old female student was referred for failure to comply with a lawful order and resisting arrest. A 15-year-old male student was referred for failure to comply with a lawful order, police said.
