Two groups totaling almost a dozen people began brawling in a north Lincoln restaurant Monday night, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The fight broke out at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar at North 27th Street and Old Dairy Road just before 10:40 p.m., Officer Angela Sands said.

A group of four men at the bar began arguing with a group of men and women seated at a nearby table, Sands said.

What the preceding argument was over wasn't clear to restaurant employees, but they described the ensuing fight as "mayhem," Sands said.

One person threw a bar-trivia machine at someone else, and another woman was actively fighting while holding a child, she said. At one point, a car arrived with people to aid one side during the fight.

All of the people involved left before police arrived, but witnesses were able to get license plates of the vehicles they left in, Sands said.

Police ask that anyone with information call 402-441-6000.
